Further south along York Street, next to a car park area, sits an early 20th century brick house. It’s on the north west corner of Brunswick Street and York. Similar brick houses were built downtown, but were demolished before the 1970’s in the name of urban progress. Dr. George Clowes Van Wart conducted his medical practice here until 1938. His son, Dr. Arthur Van Wart, joined the practice and lived in this brick house at 391 Brunswick Street. Before the brick house was built, a beautiful large wooden house stood near this corner.
